Pro-Fish-Ent, a 48 Offshore Riviera, has earned her stripes as a capable offshore game boat. Designed to handle long days on the water, she pairs performance with comfort, and her owners wanted a deck that matched her pedigree.
Years of hard use had left the original teak tired and weathered. It was time to give her a new lease of life: a hand-crafted teak deck that would not only restore her elegance, but elevate it.
Sheerline were entrusted with the task - to strip her back, rebuild from the ground up, and deliver a deck that would stand as a centrepiece of the vessel.
The journey began with preparation.
Every trace of the old teak was removed, right down to the last stubborn adhesive, leaving a perfectly clean and level base. With a blank canvas revealed, our team began the meticulous templating process - shaping slim MDF battens around every curve, hatch, and step of the cockpit and saloon.
Each section was mapped with centre lines, bullnoses, and sika join references, ensuring the new deck would be an exact fit. Once complete, the full set of templates was carefully removed and returned to our workshop, ready to guide the build.
Inside the Sheerline workshop, precision took centre stage.
The templates were traced onto a flat 12 mm MDF floor, surrounded with green tape to preserve the layout. From the centreline outward, rich golden teak planks were docked to length, gently coaxed into line, and pinned with brads to hold them true. Adjustments in plank width ensured perfect symmetry and seamless flow, avoiding doubled sika joins and maintaining visual balance across the entire expanse.
Once the layout passed inspection, the caulking began. Each rebate was primed, filled with warm Sika 290 DC, and left to cure before the entire surface was scraped, ground and sanded flat. Margins were then cut in: sweeping curves machined from solid stock, mitred cleanly and set with flawless 5 mm sika joins. The finished panels emerged from the workshop fully detailed, sanded to 80 grit and ready for installation. Precision-built down to the last millimetre.
Back aboard Pro-Fish-Ent, the real transformation began.
Each prefabricated section was dry-fitted with surgical care, scribed to the boat’s structure using grinders and routers until it sat perfectly. After a final acetone clean, the deck was permanently bonded down with Megapoxy adhesive, trowelled on for full contact and weighted with lead for an uncompromising bond.
Once cured, the team moved through the fine detailing: caulking any joins between sections, installing hardware, machining perfect radii, and sanding the full surface to a flawless 120 grit finish. A final Sika wipe completed the work — unveiling a seamless teak deck that now defines the look and feel of the vessel.
